  • Last week on the farm

I've got three days of work left before I get married and move to Kansas. So since I have not talked much about it in the past months, I'll at least introduce a part of the canine population.

So you all know Mac. Little Mr. Mischevious who just almost ate my good flip flops (yes, there is such a thing and I think I can only get them again in germany). But maybe I will be able to save them. After all I am the one to blame, because I did not pay enough attention.
So I think Mac likes to run around the property with all the other dogs. They aren’t puppies, so they don’t play like he would like them to, but still, this place is heaven compared to the shelter.

Then this is pepper. Bryce loves her. I don’t think she is very pretty but I have grown very fond of her, too. She is just sweet. If she wants to be pet she will stand in front of you. If you don’t react she will shove her face on your lab or under your hand. If you still don’t pay any attention to her she will try to climb on you. And all of that very quietly. Very politely. And if there is one thing Pepper likes as much as being petted it is fetching the ball that I bought for Mac. He just doesn’t understand the concept of throwing, yet. I’m saying yet in hopes that he will some day.

Then there is Litty. I love Litty. But he got mad at me when I brought Mac home and started peeing in my house.
Litty is a Border Collie and therefore has a strong urge to herd. He was only picked up to live about half a year ago (he was a poor skinny stray) and apparently he was not taught what is appropriate to herd. Or maybe it’s just because he does not have a real job on the property here. So Litty herds cats, foals, bugs and other dogs. That sometimes gets him in trouble with Bandit, the other Border Collie, who somehow must have ran out of the picture. Sorry.

Here a foal turned the game around and now started to chase Litty. Way to go, foalie! (Don’t get me wrong, I love Litty, but he can be an absolute pest for those poor little foals)

This is Mac again. He likes sticks and horse poop.

These are some pretty mushroooms that grow in horse poop.

And this is me and Mac.

  • Meet Machiavelli

This is Mac aka Niccolo Machiavelli. I adopted him last week and finally got to pick him up this past monday. Since then he has been hanging out with me in Texas.

    Mac

Until yesterday, this is how Mac has been running around the property, dragging a looooong leash. Just in case.

Yesterday Bryce got here and called him a “Momma’s Boy”, cause he kinda sticks close to me most of the time. So we figured, we could risk it and take the leash off. At least as long as we are out here in the country. So this is happy Mac without leash and colloar… we like to live on the edge ;)

So today we mainly just hung out at home. Watched the dogs. Played with the dogs. Bryce told me his whole repertoire of jokes…

And then there were the kittens. Bryce just bonds with them. Not that he really tries to, but somehow they just all come up to him and he has got the weakest heart for animals.

What a lovely Saturday. Sorry I have not written in forever. Who knows if anyone still reads this. I won’t even promise to try to write more again soon. But I wish I would. Let’s all hope so.

    Happy Weekend y’all!

  • Meet Mr. Snicket

Mr. Lemony Snicket. My new little baby. He might not look like one, but he is. THese pictures do him no justice at all. NONE what so ever!!!
He is the cutest, cuddliest and most active little guy I have met in a while. And now he is mine :)

Last night I was invited to go to see some foals with Laura and Nathan, the people I'm renting my place from. The lady we went to is a photographer for several horse magazines and business. She owns the funniest horses, all acting like pets, wanting to be pet and played with. And there was a cute cat that kept following us around and caught my eye. At one point she picked him up and told us that she found him at one week old and bottle raised him. Now he lives out on her ranch, but she is worried that one of the horses or the coyotes would hurt him. I picked him to pet him and he would just lay in my arm like a baby, almost falling asleep. Supercute :)
Well, long story short. She said I can keep him if I want. I have been looking for cats anyway and asked if I could pick him up next week to take up to Kansas. But Nathan and Laura, rescuing animals all of the time themselves, talked me into taking him right now and just letting him live with me in the bunk house. So I left, never setting that cute little 6-months-old cat back down... and here he is next to me now... overly excited about a small bouncy ball I bought him.
I think only a video could tell anyone how fun he is. It is just too dark right now for my camera to capture this fast moving little creature. So maybe in a few days or weeks I will have some pictures that show you just how sweet he is... if you care at all.

  • More babies

A little while ago I posted a pick of the cat running around here. She was pregnant at that time. Four weeks ago she gave birth and now, finally, there are five super sweet little kittens starting to explore this world. I am thinking about taking two of them with me when I move to Kansas...
